On Labor Day afternoon I was informed that CL&P was cutting the power on my business in the Borough (Zia's) for routine maintenance. It seems that a call to CL&P months ago to fix a tilted pole was going to be done on Monday in the middle of the retail business district. Apparently CL&P had a little time left with one of the crews they brought into the area so they picked a busy holiday weekend to shut power off to businesses that have already been down for 5-6 days. After calls to Stonington Police, and CL&P I finally reached a human being. The area supervisor finally showed up at my door to inform me that they would re-schedule the routine maintenance and that business owners would be sent CL&P notification two weeks in advance of the work as is standard procedure for routine work. Who makes these decisions? Who is paying for these crews? Why wasn't this crew sent to an area that still had no power? Instead of to a routine service call that CL&P has ignored for months!
