Clothing drive is starting by the Wrentham Cub Scouts.
The Webelos Den 9 of Wrentham’s Cub Scouts Pack 131 is holding its summer clothes drive starting April 22. The scouts are looking for gently used clothes sized 3T to 10 of the variety: Boys and girls T-shirts Girls short-sleeved dresses Boys and girls summer pajamas Boys black dress shoes Boys and girls short sleeved polo shirts Boys and girls casual and dress shorts Boys and girls belts Boys and girls socks and underwear The clothes will be donated to the Be Like Brit, non profit organization for the children of their orphanage in Haiti. Clothes can be donated Roderick and Delaney School lobbies until April 26, and the sscouts will have a table set up at the baseball fields after the opening day parade. Wrentham's Troop 131 retires American flags after years of good service.
The Wrentham Boy Scouts Troop 131 retired thousands of flags on Thursday at the Wrentham American Legion as part of their Flag Day observence. Each flag was carefully folded and recognized by the scouts before being formally retired and then burned. While not an official practice of Flag Day, the retirement of American flags is a serious and solem business. Only three organizations in the country, the Boy Scouts of American, The American Legion and the U.S. Military are legally allowed to retire flags in this fashion. Scout Master Robbie Rankin said that as a veteran, this is his fourth flag retirement ceremony. "I'm very proud to be a part of it," he said. Wrentham Boy Scout Troop 131 will perform their annual Christmas tree recycling drive as a service project for Wrentham residents only. For a $10 donation, curbside pickup will be on Saturday, Jan. 7th (rain date: Sunday, Jan. 8). Please place your donation in an envelope. Seal the envelope and place it around the bottom of the tree with a rubber band. Make checks payable to "Troop 131" and place the tree on the curb near the street before 8am on Saturday, January 7th. 2012. For safety reasons, they cannot accept trees with tinsel, flocked trees, trees with nails, artificial trees, wreathes with metal shape wires, or trees with any other metal attached. Wrentham Boy Scout Troop 61 cleaned up debris on Veterans Day from the Snowtober storm.

Members of Wrentham's Boy Scout Troop 61 spent part of their Veterans Day cleaning up storm debris from town property. The troop worked eight hours, helping to clean up the town common, Sweatt Park and cemetery. Troop members were accompanied by members of the town Department of Public Works and landscape committee.
