Oliver Ames Volleyball Defeats King Philip in 4 Sets

Loss snaps Warriors three-game winning streak.

With a loss at the hands of Oliver Ames in four sets, the King Philip volleyball team fell to 5-7 on the year and, with only seven games remaining, the Warriors are still in the hunt for a tournament berth. KP opened the night with a hard-fought 25-20 win, but fell in the next three sets 14-25, 18-25 and 19-25 to hand the victory over to the visiting Tigers. “I thought that we were a much the more balanced team tonight,” Warrior coach Cindy Souza said. “We played better defensively, but unfortunately we made a lot of unforced errors and had some net violations that hurt us. Mansfield Volleyball Decisively Beats KP

Mansfield volleyball team wins all three sets in some close matches.

Mansfield High volleyball beat King Philip Regional, 3-0, Tuesday afternoon in Mansfield. While KP put up a strong showing for the first two sets, they were soundly defeated in the third. The Hornets won 25-20 in the first two sets, and 25-9 in the last. "Today, we had a rough day," KP head coach Cynthia Souza said. "We just didn't execute our skills; we're a much better team than what we showed today." Mansfield kept up consistant scoring in all three sets, starting off strong from the beginning of each with at least a six point lead before KP could reply.
