Mansfield Field Hockey Beats KP 2-1

KP rallied in the final minutes, but could not pull through.

Mansfield varsity field hockey beat King Philip Tuesday 2-1, generally dominating the Warriors throughout. It's said that the best defense is a a good offense, and Mansfield gave credence to the adage. Mansfield kept KP on the defensive for most of the game, only letting the ball into their zone sparingly. KP hardly had any shot attempts for the first half of the game. Mansfield struck early with only a little over a minute into the game. Mansfield's Kelsy Kiley went got in a shot during a fast break. "We got knocked over in the first minute of the game," said KP head coach Liz Hathaway. "That was a big difference right there." Mansfield scored again before the half during a melee in front of the KP goalkeeper. Meg Chemburkar was able to …

KP and Attleboro Field Hockey Teams Go Scoreless

Warriors and Bombardiers end contest in a 0-0 tie.

With the sun shining brightly on a beautiful autumn afternoon in Wrentham, Attleboro and King Philip battled for a field hockey victory.  As the crowds cheered their respective teams on, the two squads moved the ball back and forth in an effort to grab the Hockomock League win. In the long run, both teams came away victorious, as the two schools walked off the field with a 0-0 tie. “I’m really pleased with the way we came out — fired up. We put a lot of pressure on them; we were relentless,” KP Coach Liz Hathaway said. “It was really nice to come away with a league tie, but I would have liked to have gotten the win.”  The scoreless outcome put the Warriors at 2-4-3, while the Blue Bombardiers went to 2-2-3. Warrior Field Hockey Team Drops to 0-2

Mansfield withstood a late KP flurry to hang on for a 4-2 Hockomock League win.

Having already lost their first game of the season to Franklin, King Philip didn’t want to go 0-2 when yet another Hockomock League superpower came to visit. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as the Warriors had hoped, and Mansfield walked off the Wrentham field with a hard-fought 4-2 victory. Mansfield’s Kelsey Kiley got the Hornets on the board rather quickly beating Molly Ahern 30 seconds into the contest.  The Hornets would build their first half lead to three as Lil Cooper and Meg Carroll also put the ball in the back of the KP net, before the Warriors’ Rachel Lomp cut into the Mansfield lead late in the half. Ashley Avery got the home team to within one with only three minutes remaining on the clock. The Warriors offense pushed hard to…
