Boston Names Its Own Gaming Board

Boston Mayor Tom Menino announced his gaming board yesterday to work on a deal to build a casino at Suffolk Downs.

The City of Boston is taking a different approach to the casino than Foxborough is, according to a report in the Boston Herald. Boston Mayor Thomas Menino has put together a gaming board to get the best deal possible for the city at Suffolk Downs with Caesar's Entertainment. Foxborough isn't negotiating with The Wynn Group, who wants to build a site across from Gillette Stadium on land owned by Bob Kraft. Wynn Asks Foxborough to Vote to Negotiate Host Community Agreement

In a full page ad in the Foxboro Reporter, casino developer Steve Wynn asks residents to negotiate a Host Community Agreement.

Steve Wynn says he wants the Foxborough selectmen to negotiate a Host Community Agreement and then let the voters decide what avenue to take, according a full-page ad in this week's Foxboro Reporter on page five. Wynn tells the town's residents, "you have the right to choose" in the ad. He also says he wants to answer questions that, according to Wynn, are frequently asked about the proposed resort-casino. The No to Foxboro Casino group has sent the state a letter asking not to be considered a host community and asking them to look elsewhere for the site. Foxborough Selectmen Want a Casino Meeting Next Tuesday

The Foxborough Selectmen are expected to have a meeting on the Wynn Resorts' Casino next Tuesday at Foxborough High School.

The Foxborough Board of Selectmen will be looking to hold another forum Tuesday, March 20 at 7pm at the high school about the Wynn Resorts plan to build a casino on Route 1 on land owned by Robert Kraft. Chairman Lawrence Harrington wanted to hear from resident Marc Todd, who wrote a letter to the board asking them to look into forming a negotiation team to be prepared for the casino project to go forward, but was advised by town manager Kevin Paicos not to continue the discussion because it wasn't on the agenda and was a violation of the opening meeting law. 'No to Foxboro Casino' Group Reaches Out With Message

The "No to Foxboro Casino" group held an open house Monday.

For the "No to Foxboro Casino" group, the game plan is still to get the message out to as many people as they can, and get them to convince casino developer Steve Wynn to forgo his Route 1 project. That's why the group held an open house and forum Monday during the day at the South Foxboro Fellowship Hall in Foxborough. Organizer Stephanie Crimmins said the daytime forum was to allow people who wouldn't be able to attend the night meetings a chance to hear what the group has to say. The open house attracted senior citizens, and a table was set for  children who attended with their parents. “The turnout was great,” said Crimmins. “We had a lot of new people who were undecided. They are coming in to talk with us and obtain information.” The …

Developer Wynn Sends Out DVD Mailing of Proposed Casino

Las Vegas businessman Steve Wynn, who has expressed an interest in developing a casino in Foxborough, sent a brochure and a DVD to town residents to explain to them what he wants to build across the street from Patriot Place and Gillette Stadium. In the DVD, Wynn explained his plan for the casino and how it would benefit Foxborough. Check out the brochure of the proposed casino and drawing of what it could look like.

"No Foxboro Casino" Group Will Hold March 5 Open House

Anti-casino group will hold open house.

The "No Foxboro Casino" group will be holding its third open house on March 5. The group, formed to combat the casino project proposed by Las Vegas mogul Steve Wynn, will hold the meeting at United Church of South Foxborough from 11am to 3pm. Information will be provided at the open house, and visitors will have the opportunity to pick up signs and sign a petition against the casino project. Norfolk Planning Board Against Foxborough Casino

The Norfolk Planning Board came out against the Foxborough casino proposal.

The Norfolk Planning Board has indicated its disapproval of the Foxborough casino proposal in a letter sent earlier this month. In the letter, the board expresses its support of the Foxborough town government decision not to negotiate to become a host community. The board said the proposal could cause problems for Foxborough and the surrounding towns. "Increases in traffic, criminal activity and drunk driving would signifcantly deteriorate the quality of life for residents, those engaged in local businesses and others who visit our communities," the letter reads. "The character of Foxborough, Norfolk and Walpole would be adversely impacted to the point where many families who were once attracted to the area will seek to relocate." The …

Two dates have currently been set at two different venues.

Members of No Foxboro Casino are following up their last open house with two more informative events.  If you are undecided on whether a casino is right for the town of Foxboro and the surrounding communities, the group encourages you to visit them and learn more. Get accurate information and have an opportunity to ask questions, give your opinion and have your voice heard, pick up a lawn sign, learn how you can help as a volunteer, and be part of the petition "Mr. Kraft: Please Do The Right Thing." Week in Review: Wastewater, Budget and Tebow

Looking back at the week of January 9 - January 13.

1. The King Philip School Committee met Monday night and heard a progress report on the high school's wastewater treatment project. The committee was told that the system had passed a Board of Health test, bringing work on the system to an end. 2. The KP middle and high school principals gave budget presentations at that meeting. Middle school principal Susan Gilson spoke about adding technology, while high school principal Robert Wargo emphasized adding personnel. 3. Norfolk held a meeting at the Olive Day School on Monday about the proposed Foxborough casino. Townspeople were concerned it would change the nature of the town. 4.
