Country music singer/songwriter Alya Brown will make her debut at the Grand Ole Opry Friday, May 25.
A lifelong dream is coming true for Wrentham's talented, rising country artist, Ayla Brown, when she will take the stage for her debut performance at the Grand Ole Opry, Friday, May 25 at 7 pm. Town Pizza owner Bill Shehata shares his story of coming to America.
Bill Shehata’s immigration to America, and subsequently coming to Town Pizza in Wrentham, was quite a lucky chance, very lucky in fact. “You apply for a lottery and they pick about 55 citizens from around the work,” he said. “My luck definitely got me there.” Shehata said he originally worked in a bus manufacturing plant in Egypt, and upon coming to the U.S., found manufacturing to be in short supply in 1995. “The job I found when I came was cooking pizza,” he said. “I was cooking in pizza places for about five years. They taught me the business.” Shehata said about that time he was looking to open his own business. “The guy before me, he was here 10 years and he wanted to get rid of it,” he said. The Wrentham resident will sing during the Discover Orange Bowl Countdown to Kickoff.
Adding to the tradition of one of college football’s premier bowl games, former American Idol finalist, Ayla Brown, will sing “God Bless America” during the Discover Orange Bowl Countdown to Kickoff. Brown joins platinum recording singer-songwriter Jake Owen, who will headline the Discover Halftime Show, while Xenia, participant on NBC’s hit show “The Voice,” will perform the National Anthem at the 2013 Discover Orange Bowl on January 1, 2013 at Sun Life Stadium. On Thursday, November 29th, 2012, Cowboy Spirit Films will be hosting the premiere of the feature film, Cowboy Spirit which will include a meet and greet with the starring cast. This event is open to the public and will be held at the Orpheum Theatre in Foxboro, Massachusetts. Produced and filmed locally in and around Boston, this independent film tells the story of Ted Walters, who must draw on the lessons he learned as a kid from his grandfather, a champion rodeo cowboy, as he tries to help a little girl who is battling cancer. The Alzheimer’s Association have announced that American Idol finalist Ayla Brown will perform at the 2012 Neponset Valley Walk to End Alzheimer’s. The event takes place at Bird Middle School, 625 Washington Street, Walpole, Massachusetts on Saturday, September 22, 2012. Ayla’s parents, Senator Scott Brown and wife, Gail Huff, former WCVB Channel 5 news reporter, are serving as honorary chairs. Ayla Brown was a semifinalist on “American Idol” in 2006. She has since played basketball for Boston College and is now working in Nashville as a country artist. Wrentham's Ayla Brown will be performing at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Tuesday, Aug. 28, and singing the national anthem Wednesday, Aug. 29. She is the daugher of Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown (R-Wrentham), who will also be at the convention. Brown debuted her country album, "Country for Good" in January and was the national anthem singer for the Philadephia 76ers last winter. She is graduate of Nobles & Greenough and Boston College where she was a basketball player for both schools. Brown was also on American Idol in 2005.
