Town government committee says they will be working on improving organizational structure long and short term.
The Wrentham Town Government Study Committee updated the selectmen on their progress to determine the effectiveness of the town government. The committee had about 70 suggestions from boards and officials within the town and found five overlying themes: communication, collaboration, process and documentation, leadership and resources sharing. “The strategy we decided to pursue after all the data was collected throughout the fall was not to develop specific representations,” said chair of the WTGSC Jerry McGovern. "Our intent is after tonight to start doing the grunt work and turn those [five themes] into actual recommendations." The Wrentham Town Government Study Committee (TGSC) will provide its first In Process Review of its activities in a public presentation to the community on Monday, Feb. 11,, from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Media Center at King Philip High School. The purpose of this meeting is to provide citizens, and Town boards, committees and departments an update on the study effort and an initial view of the TGSC’s analysis. The Town Governament Study Committee was established by the selectmen in the spring of 2012 and charged with evaluating the effectiveness of the town’s organizational structures and management systems, and making a report of recommendations back to the selectmen. 1. It's going to messy after work commute today, according to WHDH, as clouds thinken and snow develops between between 2-4 p.m. with 1-3 inches of snow by expected by the evening. The highs will be in the lower 30s. Tuesday, the rain will replace the snow with a few patches of dizzle early with temperatures near 40. Wednesday is going to feel like spring, being warm and brezzy with a high of 55-degrees. A few late day showers, which will lead to steadier rain at night, going into Thursday morning. The changes in Wrentham's trash pickup were noticed when they started last month. As chairman Joe Botaish mentioned, he heard plenty of complaints during Wrentham Day. To help explain why there seems to be a difference in quality since Waste Management took over, Michael Lavin was asked to come in front of the board to help clarify the differences. According to Lavin, the main difference between American Waste, the town’s previous trash collector and the current collector, Waste Management is that Waste Management is less lenient on the rules that existed even when the town used American Waste. “The only real change that started with the flyer was the change in the telephone number,” said Lavin who was referring to Waste Management's phone…
