Wrentham Patch takes one last look at the week and all the news from around town.
Adult Entertainment Zone, Multiple Appropriations Pass Wrentham Town Meeting With a small warrant and a just as small crowd in attendance, last night’s Special Town Meeting quickly went by with only Article 4 being withdrawn and the remaining articles passing with no resistance. The most discussed item on the agenda was Article 7, which created a 20-acre adult entertainment zone near the Shire Industrial Park. After multiple attempts over the years to create the zone for adult businesses, the town voted to approve Article 7 at last night’s Special Town Meeting to create one that cannot even be accessed through Wrentham. To get near it, one has to drive though the industrial park in Norfolk. Under the new law, any business falling under the…

From Town Planner Paige Duncan Wrentham is at a crossroads with respect to downtown. It is a vibrant and attractive area and the redevelopment of the 50+ acres that was formerly the Tyco/Crosby Vale site could have a major effect on the downtown. At the Visioning Workshop, we hope to hear from the residents and business owners of Wrentham on how they would like their downtown to look in the future. The vision we develop during the Workshop will guide planners and government officials in drafting zoning and other regulations to shape the future development of not just the 50 acres, but downtown as a whole. The Visioning Workshop will be facilitated by the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) and it is funded by a District Local …
Tomorrow, Wrentham residents will have a chance to vote on if Wrentham should have an area designated for adult businesses.
Not far down the road near the Walpole/Norwood boarder on Route 1, there is a sign for a new adult store that will be opening. Over in Wrentham, a new article for tomorrow's Special Town Meeting is designed to prevent a similar incident in Wrentham. When residents attend tomorrow's meeting at 7:30 at King Philip High School, they will vote on Article 7 which will decide if Wrentham will create an adult entertainment zone for anyone looking to open up a similar business or store as the one that will open soon in Norwood. "No one likes to talk about this but the bottom line is we’re not allowed to prohibit adult uses so the purpose of this zoning is to regulate that control it," Town Planner Paige Duncan said. Due to protections provided by…

Tonight the Wrentham Planning Board will hold a public forum to discuss if the permits granted to the Wrentham Village Premium Outlets to open early on Black Friday should be revoked.
After many local shoppers enjoy their Thanksgiving dinner, there is a chance they may run out the door and head to the Wrentham Village Premium Outlets for their annual Midnight Madness sale. The annual event kicks off Black Friday with a special 12:01 a.m. opening that allows shoppers to get a head start on their holiday shopping. The special event however, may be coming to an end after a disagreement between the town and the mall. Earlier this month, the Wrentham Planning Board and the Wrentham Police Department asked the Wrentham Village Premium Outlets to install 10 cameras to help with security. Wrentham police officials have said in the past that they have concerns that the mall's tendency to attract a large crowd can also attract …
