The Wrentham Town Clerk's office will be hosting a special voter registration today.
1. In a word, WHDH TV is calling today "Stupendous!" There will be low humidty with plenty of sun. It wil be in the low 50s in the morning before reaching a high in the low to middle 70s during the day. 2. The Wrentham Town Clerk will hold a special voter registration on Wednesday, June 5 for the Special State Election of June 25. Registration will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the town clerk’s office in the Town Hall; and from 4-8 p.m. in the community room of the public safety building. Students halfway through medical careers program.

Sophomores enrolled in the Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical High School medical careers program are halfway through their experiential clinical learning at the Wrentham Developmental Center (WDC), a state-run, residential facility for developmentally disabled adults located at 131 Emerald St., Wrentham. The 10th grade students began visiting Wrentham Developmental Center in February, making the trip every Wednesday and Thursday during their career technical week. The students will conclude their biweekly visits in June. Annually, each medical careers sophomore class participates in these clinical visits. The Wrentham Fire Department responded to a small incident this morning at the Wrentham Developmental Center
About 70 clients were evacuated from the Marion Moore Hall this morning when a minor fire incident occurred at the building in the Wrentham Developmental Center. According to Wrentham Fire Chief Jay McMorrow, the building is heated by a hight pressure steam system from the center's power plant. A failure to control the heating system caused smoke to form in the attic of the building. There were no injuries or medial assistance needed. The damage was very minor according to McMorrow and the clients were allowed back into the building.

For the second year in a row, the Wrentham Developmental Center was represented when awards were given out by the Department of Developmental Services' (DDS) at a function honoring members of their Urban Youth Collaborative Program (UYCP). While the Wrentham Developmental Center was given the the Paulette Anjorin Community Service Award last year, Nicholas D’Aluisio, director of the Wrentham Development Center was this year’s recipient of the award. Also receiving special awards were Jesse Hayston of Quincy who received the Steven E. Collins Leadership Award and Camille Serelus of Methuen and Amanda Granfield of Billerica who were presented with the the Current Service Award. The Wrentham Developmental Center have passed along photos of the Alien Garden before rain damaged the display.
Earlier this week, we ran photos of the Alien Garden at the Wrentham Developmental Center. The display was art made up of nothing but recycled materials. Unfortunately, those photos were taken shortly after a rainstorm that damaged some of the displays. In an effort to show what the garden was meant to look like, the Wrentham Cultural Council have passed along these photos of the Alien Garden before the rain.

Over the weekend, Wrentham Recycling set up an Alien Garden of art made from recycled products. The display can be seen while driving by the main entrance of the Wrentham Developmental Center.

On Saturday, August 4, 2012, the Aliens will be arriving at the Wrentham Developmental Center, 1 - 4 p.m. and they will be planting their garden. Not a flash mob or a cash mob, this will be a trash mob. A collaboration between the Wrentham Cultural Council and the Wrentham Developmental Center, this project developed from the March Cultural Council Forum when thirty members of the Wrentham community gathered to explore ways to connect through the arts, humanities and sciences. Members of the Wrentham Recycling Committee will participate. The “trash” teams will plan to create giant sculptures of aliens and their garden from recycled materials.
