Wrentham's snow and ice budget is at $200,000.
The Wrentham selectmen talked with public works superintendent Michael Lavin regarding the snow and ice budget Tuesday before Thursday's storm. “We’ve had 20 events,” said selectmen chair Joseph Botaish Tuesday. “Sanding events are constantly happening. It may be for a couple of hours or four hours, but it’s still an event that incurs a cost.” Lavin said, as of March 5, the snow and ice budget is running at about $200,000, mostly because of the Feb. 8 storm. “I couldn’t be prouder than to be a member of the DPW team,” Lavin said, regarding the February blizzard. “We had contractors that left in the middle of the storm because they couldn’t handle it. The public works is presently cleaning up on public property and we’re opening up the access roads to all of our water tanks.” Ketcham said that Wrentham kept on top of the snowfall and made sure the roads were clear throughout. “There was nothing serious as far as snow removal. We just kept at it steadily. We did find at one …

The board of selectmen voted 4-0, with Michael Carroll abstaining, to accept the DPW’s recommendation to keep rates the same. Wrentham will charge $4.90 per thousand gallons for properties that consume less than 50,000 gallons and $5.90 for properties that consume more than 50,000 gallons. The rate, while the same as previous years, allows for a minimum of $100,000 in excess revenue to help fund capital improvement projects for the town. Currently, the Madison Street Water Main project, the Elysium Street water main project and improvements to the water storage …
