Wrentham Getting Faster Verizon Wireless Service

4G Long Term Evolution network expands to 29 communities Thursday.

Verizon Wireless's Wrentham customers get an incentive to work on the road starting Thursday. Wrentham is among 29 communities in Verizon Wireless' expansion of its 4G Long Term Evolution network, the telecommunications giant announced Wednesday. Other area communities involved are: Dover, Foxborough, Franklin, Medfield, Norfolk, Plainville, Sherborn, Walpole and Sharon. Featuring "speeds up to 10 times faster than before," the service will be available to Verizon Wireless customers with 4G LTE smartphones, tablets, laptop modems and mobile hotspots, the firm said in a press release. Area Verizon Employees Picket in Foxborough, Mansfield, Sharon

Union president: "This is about Middle America and jobs overseas."

Striking Verizon landline employees have become a fixture at Cobb's Corner, where Sharon, Canton and Stoughton meet. Employees are at 27 Verizon locations in the region, Communication Workers of America Local 1400 President Don Trementozzi said Monday. "The public has been very supportive, because this is about Middle America and jobs overseas," he said. About 45,000 Verizon Communications employees from Massachusetts to Virginia began striking over the weekend of Aug. 7 after contract talks with the corporation stalled.
