A political newcomer will face a long-time Massachusetts politician in the race to be the Bay State's next U.S. senator. The Associated Press has declared Republican businessman and former U.S. Navy SEAL Gabriel Gomez of Cohasset and Democratic U.S. Congressman Edward Markey of Malden the winners of their U.S. Senate special primary elections, according to tweets from Fox 25. The call for Gomez came approximately one hour after the polls closed in the statewide primary while a call for Markey came moments later. Scott Brown says he is recharging his batteries in a FOX-25 exclusive interview, aired Monday night. Part two of the interview will be airing tonight. After losing his US Senate seat to Elizabeth Warren in November, Brown decided not to run in the April special to fill the seat left by John Kerry's appointment as secretary of state. In the interview, Brown said it was too many elections in too short at time. He's, however, not commenting any future plans he has in politics. Instead, Brown says he is learning to play the guitar and learning to speak Spanish in between his work as a commentor on FOX News.

State Representative Dan Winslow has formed a committee to look into running for US Senate.
State Rep. Dan Winslow (R-Norfolk) is forming an exploratory committee to decide whether to run for US Senate. Winslow made the announcement Tuesday to look into running for the seat vacated by John Kerry's appointment as US Secretary of State. “Today, I’m taking the necessary steps to form an exploratory committee to test the waters for the U.S. Senate," said Winslow. A decision of the expiring farm bill has been extended another year, preventing milk from doubling in price.
Milk prices won't be doubling after all, according to report on the Huffington Post. Instead, the expiring farm bill will be extended one more year, allowing the direct subsides to growers to be continued. There is no time table for the vote on the bill to be taken in 2013. Farm-state lawyers agreed to the extension Sunday as milk was expected to double in price to $7 a gallon if the bill was allowed to run out. (PRESS RELEASE) The fourth debate between Senator Scott Brown and Elizabeth Warren, originally scheduled to be broadcast live on Tuesday, Oct. 30, but postponed because of the storm, will not be rescheduled. The Boston Media Consortium sponsoring the debate has been working with both campaigns to reschedule the match, and offered multiple alternative options. The campaigns could not agree on a new date, so the debate will not take place. “This is very disappointing for all the citizens who will not have an opportunity to hear directly from the candidates a week before this important election,” said WGBH executive producer Linda Polach, who has been coordinating the effort for the consortium. After Elizabeth Warren won the Massachusetts Democratic nomination for US Senate, United States Senator Scott Brown congratulated her and then said he wants a debate. Warren has agreed to debate Brown, according to an Associated Press report. A Warren spokeswoman said Warren's camp will be reaching out to Brown to work out the arrangements. Brown has agree to accept an debate invitation from WBZ-AM radio host Dan Rea and wants Warren to join him. Senator Scott Brown and challenger Elizabeth Warren have already raised sizable funds in their race to represent Massachusetts in the U.S. Senate. According to campaign releases, Brown raised $3.4 million in the first quarter of the year, while Warren raised $6.9 million.
