With the year about to come to a close, a few establishments in Wrentham and beyond will be celebrating the new year with live music, special dinner menus, and of course, a champaign toast. Below is a listing of some of the resturants in and around Wrentham that will be celebrating the new year. The Terrace Cafe will be serving a four course meal at 6:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. and providing live music from Mike Tarara. The meal, featuring a fixed menu, is $50 per person for the first seating and $60 for the second seating. Starting at 8:00 p.m., the cafe will charge a $15 cover for a night of live music and a buffet. There will also be a champaign toast at midnight and the cafe will be extending their hours of operations until 1:30 a.m. …

King Philip Music Announces Winter Pops The 17th annual King Philip Winter Pops Concert will be held on Dec. 1 at King Philip Regional High School, Rte. 140, Wrentham. This concert is presented by the King Philip Regional High School music department and the King Philip Music Association. This year’s theme is “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and is guaranteed to put everyone in the spirit of the season. The evening is modeled after the Boston Pops concerts at Symphony Hall. While many local restaurants would welcome back happy hour, there are concerns about the specials causing more drunk driving incidents.
It has been 28 years since Massachusetts became the first state to ban happy hour. The ban put an end to all promotions involving free or low priced drinks in an effort to cut down on drunk drives and drinking related deaths. With businesses now looking for any revenue they can find, a new push to bring back happy hour has risen in the Commonwealth. Despite a failed effort to repeal the ban as part of the bill to legalize gambling in Massachusetts, the Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission will be holding the fourth in a series of five public hearings next week to see if the current regulations regarding happy hour should be updated. The Tavern at Wrentham recently finished their newest addition with the grand opening on August 17.
When the Tavern at Wrentham opening in May 2010, it was a risky investment to start a new restaurant in the middle of a financial downswing. Yet judging at the crowd on a recent Wednesday night, owner Doug Smith must be doing something right. While only a little more than two years old, the Tavern at Wrentham has become one of the more popular local spots for people to enjoy a drink and relax in the evening. Between the live music and weekly pub quizzes, the establishment has been a place for plenty of activity. The three main attractions to the restaurant has been trivia, karaoke, and open mic night. The Tavern at Wrentham is looking for a new name for their addition plus four other things!
1. The National Weather Service calls for a high of 87 degrees today with a low of 65. It is expected to be partly sunny with a 30% - 40% chance of thunderstorms. 2. New England Revolution striker Saer Sene recently appeared in Wrentham District Court to settle seven charges related to a driving incident. According to court documents, Sene ended up paying $1,213 in fees and fines. Foxborough Patch has the full story. 3.
