Plainridge Racecourse in Competition for State's Sole Slot License

Developers are proposing to build a 1,250 slot machine parlor at Plainridge Racecourse in Plainville, which is now among nearly a dozen eyeing the state's only slot parlor gaming license. The deadline for application landed on Tuesday.

Plainridge Racecourse in Plainville is now among 10 other entities eyeing a slots parlor license, according to media reports this week.   The Plainville track filed its application for the license with the Massachusetts Gaming Commission several months ago, according to a report on WHDH, and park president George Carney said that after filing the application, he was confident he could win the competition.  Developers are proposing to build a 1,250 slot machine parlor at Plainridge Racecourse if the track receives the state’s only slot parlor gaming license. The deadline for developers to submit applications to the Gaming Commission passed on Tuesday, Jan. 15. Wynn Directly Addresses Foxborough Re: Resort

Thousands of Foxborough residents received a letter in the mail Monday from Steve Wynn.

Thousands of Foxborough residents’ received a letter in the mail Monday from casino mogul Steve Wynn. In the letter, Wynn continues to try to annihilate fears by addressing the hot button word in town: "casino." Wynn sent out approximately 8,000 letters, targeting households that have at least one registered voter, according to the Boston Globe. Wynn begins the letter by stating that he hopes to "start a thorough and positive dialogue with the residents of Foxborough." He also writes about the fear that some may feel when they hear the word "casino." "That is not our business," he further states.
