State Rep. Winslow Weighing US Senate Run

State Rep. Daniel Winslow is expected to announce Tuesday whether he will be a candidate for the United States Senate.

State Rep. Daniel Winslow (R-Norfolk) is expected to announce Tuesday on whether he will be the running for the United States Senate, according to a report in the Sun Chronicle. Winslow told the Associated Press that he has been urged by supporters to run for the seat previous held by John Kerry.  When former United States Senator Scott Brown announced last week that he wasn't running for office, that left the Republican field wide-open for the April 30 primary and the June 30 general election.  ‘‘I will reflect this weekend about my own family’s needs and whether there is room in the national Republican Party for a member who is both fiscally prudent and socially tolerant,’’ said Winslow in the Associated Press story Friday. Will Brown Jump into US Senate race?

Wrentham's Scott Brown is considering a favorite for the Republican nomination in the upcoming Senate race.

  Governor Deval Patrick is expected to announce today who will be taking over for Senator John Kerry on interim bases before a special election can be held June, according to an Associated Press report. Kerry is the new Secretary of State and is resignation is effective Friday. Then, the focus will swift to the  April 30 primary and election. Candidates will have four weeks to get the signatures needed to get on the ballot. While he hasn't made an official statement on whether he is going to run, Scott Brown (R-Wrentham) is being touted as the favorite for his party's nomination.
