Truck rollover on 495 South in Mansfield Backs Up Traffic to Wrentham

Rollover in Mansfield blocks two lanes of traffic on 495 South and closes Exit 13.

State Police have reported that a tractor trailer rolled over on Rotue 495 South at the Route 95 Exit in Mansfield. State Police have also reported the crash has blocked the two right lanes and a fuel spill has occurred. While there are no longer any delays from the accident on Route 495, traffic from the accident was backed up to Exit 15 in Wrentham late this afternoon. Update: 3:11 p.m. State Police are reporting that the fuel spill as a result of the tractor trailer rollover has forced the closure of Exit 13 on route 495 South, which is the onramp to Route 95 North in Mansfield. The crash was called in at 2:42 p.m. As of 3:11 p.m. there are no known injuries and the cause of the crash has yet to be determined. The truck was reportedly …

Plainville Tractor-Trailer Turnover Causes Morning Delays on Route 495

An overturned tractor-trailer at Exit 14 on Route 495 caused some delays for commuters this morning.

An accident on 495 South in Plainville caused some traffic delays for commuters this morning. At approximately 6:30 a.m., a tractor-trailer truck at the off ramp from 495 South to Route 1 South at Exit 14 rolled over, forcing the shutdown of the exit ramp according to the Massachusetts State Police. The driver of the truck was taken to Rhode Island Hospital to treat minor non life-threatening injuries. The Wrentham Fire Department was on the scene by 8 a.m. to clean up an small fuel spill caused by the accident. The accident did cause delays in the morning commute. The exit was reopened by 9:15 a.m. The Massachusetts State Police are currently investigating the cause of the accident.

Update: All Lanes on 495 North Open After Accident

An accident on Route 495 inbound has left one injured.

Update (11:11 a.m.): MassDOT has announced that all lanes near Exit 15 on Route 495 northbound have reopened after this morning's accident. The road was initially closed due to the accident and to make a space for a MedFlight to land.   Update (10:58 a.m.) Massachusetts State Police Trooper Todd Nolan has told Patch that the person injured in the truck was a 29 year old man from Whitman. A name has not yet been released nor has any new information been made available.   Update (10:33 a.m.):  MassDOT is now reporting that there is a four mile backup due to the accident. State Police: Crash on 495 in Wrentham

Accident on Route 495 South, one taken to hospital.

A crash on Route 495 South on Thursday morning sent one to the hospital, according to the Massachusetts State Police. According to police, the Wrentham and Plainville fire departments responded to calls about a motor vehicle rollover at 11:07am. The accident took place a quarter-mile before the Wrentham exit on the highway. State police said two vehicles were involved in the incident - a 2005 Dodge Magnum operated by a 56-year-old Provincetown man and a 2002 Mazda being driven by an 18-year-old Pawtucket, RI woman. Police said the woman was taken to Sturdy Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. -Thanks to reader Laurie Brasil for the photo and the tip.

Route 495 Overpass Dedicated to Fallen State Policeman

Route 495/95 overpass in Mansfield dedicated to Sgt. Doug Weddleton on Tuesday.

The bridge over Route 95 on Route 495 was dedicated to Massachusetts State Police Trooper Doug Weddleton on Tuesday at a ceremony in Foxborough. More than 50 state troopers, along with family and friends, came to the ceremony to remember the trooper’s life and dedication. “Like no other organization I know, the Massachusetts State Police are a family,” said MSP Colonel Marian McGovern. “We are here today to honor a member of that family. One who was taken from us far, far too soon. I would give anything to not to be here today, because the tradegy that took Sgt. Doug Weddleton away from us should never have happened.
