By Dr. Elizabeth Zielinski King Philip Regional School District Superintendent The King Philip Regional High School Principal Interview Committee met last week to narrow the field of seven semifinalists down to four. A total of 48 individuals applied to be the next principal at King Philip High School. Monday, June 4, each candidate will spend a portion of the day visiting KP. Each visit includes focus groups of teachers and students, a learning walk-through in classrooms at the high school and a second interview with the King Philip administrative team. The following is a release from Angelcat Haven. A friend of a volunteer of Angelcat Haven Feline Rescue Organization found a cardboard box on the side of the road in Foxborough on East Street and Mansfield Street on Sunday May 19. The box said "FREE" on it and contained 10 black & white colored kittens. The 10 kittens were left out in the hot sun, in a closed box with no food or water for an undetermined length of time. They appear to be of different ages, possibly from different litters. The largest weighs 1.5 pounds. They are all dehydrated, very hungry and underweight but are now in the hands of Angelcat Haven Feline Rescue in Plainville. They will be fully vetted, nursed to health, and available for adoption once they have a clean …

The Plainville Stop & Shop and its customers raised $3,200 for the Wrentham Food Pantry as part of its "Food for Friends" program, the company announced on Wednesday. The drive, which ran from late October through December, raised almost $2 million across the northeast. According to the company, 60 percent of that total will go to local food pantries, while the rest goes to regional food banks. Contributions to the program came from numerous sources, including customer donations at registers, food and beverage company donations and a $500 per-store company match. Area will get $1,000 grant.
The Plainville Conservation Area will be receiving a $1,017 state grant for a trail improvement project, according to a joint release from State Sen. Richard Ross and State Rep. Dan Winslow. The grant requires grantee matching funds of $2,264, and will be used to improve awareness of the trails. The money, according to the release, will be used to add marking and signage and promote a larger trail system. "I am thrilled that Plainville has received this excellent opportunity to improve their local trails," Ross said in a statement. "The Recreation Trail Grant Program is a wonderful means for the government to benefit our local communities."
