Foxborough Police Chief Edward O'Leary held a press conference outside of the Foxborough Public Safety Building Monday afternoon to address the mass arrests and over 600 incidents that occurred at Country Fest this past weekend.
The 102 arrests and over 600 incidents reported by Foxborough Police during last weekend's New England Country Music Festival at Gillette Stadium was the result of more preparation, according to Foxborough Police Chief Edward O'Leary. Foxborough Police reported over 500 incidents at this past weekend’s New England Country Music Festival at Gillette Stadium.
Foxborough’s ninth annual New England Country Music Festival headlining Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw at Gillette Stadium brought over 100,000 people to the area this past weekend, which resulted in 500 police incidents. According to Foxborough Police reports, there were 101 criminal arrests made during the two-day concert festival and close to an additional 500 concertgoers were taken into protective custody, which is separate from an arrest. Foxborough Police Chief Edward O’Leary said the majority of the arrests involved underage drinking. He added that there were some “traffic issues” during Friday’s show, which brought a crowd of 49,400 to Foxborough and yielded 61 arrests. Foxborough is expected to see over 100,000 country fans at Gillette Stadium this weekend as Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw wrap up their 2012 “Brothers of the Sun” Tour. Concerts will be held Friday and Saturday, beginning at 4:30 p.m.
The New England Country Music Festival at Gillette Stadium has become an annual event in Foxborough since its inception in 2004. Foxborough's ban on parking for a fee in residential neighborhoods during Gillette Stadium events is now in effect and local authorities are ready to put it into action. "[Monday] night, in my personal car, with my sunglasses on and a hat – I looked like a movie star – I drove down North Street and was waved in [to park for a fee] by 11 homeowners," said Foxborough Building Inspector Bill Casbarra, referring to activity prior to Monday night's Patriots game. ...
