Route 1, Wrentham Businesses Ready for AFC Game Sunday

Local business owners and Patriot Place gearing up for some serious football business.

Unless you are living under a rock, you know the AFC Championship game is at Gillette on Sunday and businesses along Route 1 are getting ready. John Lightizer, owner of the Red Rooster in Wrentham said he expects good business as well, even as far down Route 1. “Football season in general is good for business,” he said. “This week should be pretty good. Everyone’s going to be coming before the game and we’ll definitely some late night traffic after.” Lightizer added that the playoff game against the Houston Texans saw a serious uptick in his sales. "It was great, there were a lot of fired up peple," he said. "The hype is all good because we’re winning. It will keep everyone fired up for the Super Bowl." Lightizer said he expects a big win …

Living History: Lafayette House Serving Foxborough Since 1784

The house has stood in Foxborough for over 229 years.

Ron Young has owned the Lafayette House in Foxborough more than 20 years, but the building itself has been around a lot longer. Young said the house has been around for 229 years. It was originally the Bristol County Courthouse and stagecoach house called the Everett Inn, even though the property is not in Bristol County. “At some point, the court left,” he said. “This building is not in Bristol County … the building was located here primarily because it’s halfway between Boston and Providence – what a horse does in one day is 20 miles and it’s 20 miles to Providence from Boston. Readers Vote Lafayette House as Best Mother's Day Brunch

Foxborough restaurant picks up "best Mother's Day brunch" title.

Foxborough's Lafayette House was voted by readers as having the Best Mother's Day Brunch in the area after a weeklong vote. The restaurant picked up 44 votes, representing 81 percent of the vote. Wrentham's Lake Pearl Luciano's garnered nine votes (or 16 percent), and was the second-leading candidate. Christina's Fireside Grille also picked up a vote in the poll.
