Belichick: ‘It’s a Great Honor’ to Participate in Another AFC Championship Game

The New England Patriots will play in the AFC Championship Game for the seventh time under head coach Bill Belichick Sunday when the team takes on the Baltimore Ravens at Gillette Stadium.

On Sunday, the New England Patriots will play in their seventh AFC Championship Game under head coach Bill Belichick and fourth in Foxborough. NFL Playoffs: TV Schedule and Where to Watch Divisional Round Games in the Area

The New England Patriots host the Houston Texans at 4:30 p.m. Sunday in the AFC Divisional Round. Here’s a roundup of where and when to catch all the NFL playoff action this weekend.

The divisional round of the NFL playoffs begins this weekend in Denver when the Broncos host the Baltimore Ravens at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Locally, the New England Patriots host the Houston Texans Sunday at Gillette Stadium  with kick-off at 4:30 p.m. Patriots fans hoping for another AFC Championship game in Foxborough will be tuning in Saturday to cheer on the Ravens against Peyton Manning and the Broncos while fans wanting to see a Brady-Manning showdown with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line will be favoring the Broncos Saturday.  Of course, in either scenario, the Patriots need to knock off the Houston Texans Sunday to advance. New England Patriots Lead NFL in Designated Driver Pledges for Third Straight Year

Nearly 22,000 fans at Gillette Stadium pledged to be designated drivers during the 2012 New England Patriots season, which was the most of any team in the NFL.

For the third consecutive season, the New England Patriots are the NFL leaders in designated driver pledges.   Nearly 22,000 fans in the stands at Gillette Stadium pledged to be designated drivers during the 2012 season, ensuring families and friends a safe ride to and from Patriots games this season. The Patriots again finished the season in the top spot among all NFL teams after first doing so in 2010 and then breaking a single-season NFL record for pledges with 23,000 in 2011. A crowd of 63,833 fans braved the arctic temperatures in Foxborough this past Sunday to watch the New England Patriots beat the Miami Dolphins in the 2012-13 regular season finale at Gillette Stadium. From a public safety perspective, the game was fairly mellow with Foxborough police reporting just 29 custodies, two of which were arrests. The New England Patriots closed out the regular season Sunday with a 28-0 shutout over the Miami Dolphins at Gillette Stadium.

The New England Patriots needed a win against the Miami Dolphins Sunday and a loss by either the Houston Texans or the Denver Broncos to earn a bye in next weekend's AFC Wild Card round. The Indianapolis Colts took care of the Texans, knocking off Houston in head coach Chuck Pagano's return to the sidelines after a near-season long bout with Leukemia and the Patriots thrashed the Dolphins in a 28-0 win at Gillette Stadium. Sunday night’s New England Patriots football game at Gillette Stadium drew a crowd of 65,043; slightly less than the 65,435 at Gillette Stadium six days earlier to see the Pats take on the Houston Texans. Foxborough Police Chief Edward O’Leary said there were 54 people taken into protective custody Sunday night and eight people arrested. In addition to the 62 custodies reported, a caller at 6:31 p.m. told Foxborough Police a North Street resident was violating the town’s parking bylaw. The San Francisco 49ers blew a 28-point lead but held on to beat the New England Patriots, 41-34 at Gillette Stadium Sunday night.

As much as the first half was one to forget for the New England Patriots Sunday Night, the second half was nearly one to remember in a wild and sloppy, 41-34 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. "Obviously we just didn’t do anything well enough to win," said Patriots head coach Bill Belichick. Winslow Delivers Fluff and Top 10 List to Save Local Aid When Governor Deval Patrick announced his plan to cut local aid as part of an effort to close a projected $540 million budget deficit, State Representative Dan Winslow (Norfolk-R) was quick to suggest that the governor go after the “fluff” before going after local aid.  In a response to the Patrick Administration's statement that there was no fluff in the budget and to create a dialogue to find an alternative solution, Rep. Winslow delivered a pyramid of 10 containers of Marshmallow Fluff and 10 examples of fluff to cut to the Executive Office of Administration and Finance. Police Arrest 6 at Monday’s Patriots-Texans Game at Gillette Stadium

The following is a summary of police activity and incidents reported from Monday’s NFL regular season game between the New England Patriots and Houston Texans at Gillette Stadium, as reported in Foxborough's police logs.

A crowd of over 65,000 was on hand in Foxborough Monday night to witness the New England Patriots dismantle the AFC-leading Houston Texans, 42-14 at Gillette Stadium. Of the 65,435 in attendance, Foxborough Police Chief Edward O’Leary reported there were 48 police-related incidents, including six arrests. The following is a roundup of those 48 incidents, as reported in Foxborough’s police logs.
