Scott Brown isn't talking about his political future, but the state Democrats are acting like he will be a candidate for Governor of Massachusetts.
In an exclusive interview on FOX-25 Tuesday night, Wrentham's Scott Brown commented on what his poltical future is,, but he did recently says he's considering a run for Governor of Massachusetts. In an article in the Boston Herald, though, it sounded like the Democrats think Brown iwill be in the running for Deval Patrick's Governor of Massachusetts position. After running twice for Congress, Sean Bielat is throwing his hat in the race for US Senate.
Norfolk now has two candidates running for US Senate. After losing two races for Congress, Norfolk's Sean Bleilat has opened up a federal campaign office to raise money to run for the US Senate, according to a report in the Boston Globe. Bielat lost to Barney Frank by 10 points in 2010 and then lost to Joe Kennedy III in November by 25 points. A major in the Marine Corps Reserves, Bielat works as an independent consultant. State Rep. Dan Winslow (R-Norfolk) and former Navy Seal Gabriel Gomez have already decided they will be running for the Republican nomination in the April 30 primary, while Congressmen Stephen Lynch (D-South Boston) and Ed Markey (D-Malden) are battling it out in the Democratic race. The Boston Globe is reporting that Scott Brown will be a part of the board of directors for Kadant, located in Tech Park East in Westford.
Scott Brown may not be running in this spring's U.S. Senate special election to replace John Kerry, but he won't be resting on his laurels. The Boston Globe is reporting that Brown has accepted a position on the board of directors for Kadant, with its headquarters located on Technology Park Drive in Westford. Kadant president Jonathan Painter said to the Globe that the company welcomed the chance to draw on Brown’s ‘‘wealth of experience on local, state, national and international issues.’’ A self-described leader in paper and pulp manufacturing, the company saw a significant amount of its stock sold last year and employs 1,700 employees worldwide. Scott Brown ended speculation Friday afternoon as to whether he would run for U.S. Senate, announcing that he is not entering the race for the seat left vacant by John Kerry’s confirmation to the post of Secretary of State. Two Democratic political opponents – Congressman Stephen Lynch (D-South Boston) and Congressman Edward Markey (D-Malden) – will face off in the April 30 primary with the special election set for June 25. There are currently no Republican candidates in the race. Markey, who represents the 5th Congressional District, kicked off his campaign in December. John Kerry will replace Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State.
With only three dissenting votes, the U.S. Senate has confirmed John Kerry as the new Secretary of State. Kerry will take over for Hillary Clinton, who is leaving her post after four years. The move means Kerry will have to resign as Massachusetts' senior senator. According to a Tweet from WCVB political reporter Janet Wu, Kerry's resignation has reportedly been sent to Gov. With Tuesday's official nomination of U.S. Senator John Kerry to the post of Secretary of State, the field is opening up with folks vying for Kerry's seat in his unexpired term in the U.S. Senate. But before that even happens an interim senator has to be named. On Wednesday, Governor Deval Patrick announced his former chief of staff William “Mo” Cowan will be the interim senator and will serve until a new senator is elected in the June 25 special election. Boston.com is reporting an early salvo has been fired in what could be the Senate special election showdown.
In a radio interview Wednesday morning, U.S. Senator Scott Brown (R-MA) jabbed at Democratic Congressman Edward Markey about his residency in Malden, according to a Boston.com report. Brown questioned if Markey still lives in Massachusetts anymore and also told WTKK-FM he often sees members of the Bay State congressional delegation on planes trips home but said "I have never seen Ed on the airplane—ever," according to the report.
