Wrentham Antiques Hosts Civil War Exhibit

Living history exhibit shows Wrentham what it was like for soldiers in America's Civil War.

The American Civil War was the bloodiest conflict in American history. Claiming over 360,000 lives, it is still considered to be the most influential war of our young country. Wrentham Antiques on South St. hosted a two-day living history exhibition on the weekend of Oct. 23. The expo featured many period replica pieces as well as soldiers from the 12th Georgia Regiment and officers of the Topographical Engineers Corps. The exhibit also featured live musket firing, period food and educational lectures on the lives of those involved in the war. Brigadier General of Engineers Ian McKay, known as Jim Matthews outside the war, explained that it was a hard life to be a soldier in the Civil War. Living conditions were horrendous, disease rampant…
