In 2005, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts passed Nicole's Law, named for 7-year-old carbon monoxide poisoning victim Nicole Garofalo. The law requires homeowners to install carbon monoxide (CO) alarms in your home. Are yours in working order? Carbon monoxide (CO), known as "the invisible killer, is a colorless, odorless, poisonous gas that results from incomplete burning of fuels such as natural gas, propane, oil, wood, coal and gasoline. Each year, dozens die from accidental CO poisoning and thousands more are injured. Now that the snow has fallen and doesn’t look it will melt away anytime soon, the dangers increase.
