Canton caught the Warriors off guard, but KP was able to overcome the first quarter and take the victory 83-51.
The Canton High boys' basketball team came into Wrentham on a mission. Despite the Warriors getting on the board first via two Jake Layman baskets, it was the Bulldogs that gained the upper hand in the first quarter of play. Canton held a four point lead (18-14) through the first eight minutes of play, but King Philip eventually got back to playing Warrior basketball and came away with a hard fought 83-51 victory. “I thought one of the things that we didn’t do was come out and play defense. The King Philip Warriors again put up a solid game Friday night, defeating the Canton Bulldogs 37-13.

For a time, it looked as if the Canton Bulldogs would pose a serious threat to the King Philip Warriors on senior night Friday. On the first drive of the game, Canton quarterback Anthony Bires broke a 51-yard run on a keeper. The run would set up a six-yard Canton touchdown, putting the Bulldogs up 6-0. KP, though, responded with a methodical drive, culminating in an 18-yard Charles Ruffin touchdown. After stopping Canton's second drive, the Warriors would pull ahead on a 17-yard pass from quarterback John Dillon to receiver Sam McDonald. KP would be stopped on a two-point conversion attempt, and the Warriors led 12-6.
