The Patriot Place establishment was one of just five locations in the state to tap the 4:09 pale ale Wednesday – the one month anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings.
CBS Scene is raising money for the One Fund Boston through sales of a rare Wormtown Brewing Co. beer tapped Wednesday to honor the one-month anniversary of the bombings at the Boston Marathon. The first pour of the beer, 4:09 pale ale from Wormtown Brewing Co., occurred at 4:09 p.m. Wednesday and the first sale came shortly thereafter with 100- percent of the proceeds going to The One Fund. “This is pretty phenomenal,” said Walpole resident Steve Dion after purchasing the first 4:09 pale ale at CBS Scene. “I just happened to walk into this [fundraiser]. Local business owners and Patriot Place gearing up for some serious football business.
Unless you are living under a rock, you know the AFC Championship game is at Gillette on Sunday and businesses along Route 1 are getting ready. John Lightizer, owner of the Red Rooster in Wrentham said he expects good business as well, even as far down Route 1. “Football season in general is good for business,” he said. “This week should be pretty good. Everyone’s going to be coming before the game and we’ll definitely some late night traffic after.” Lightizer added that the playoff game against the Houston Texans saw a serious uptick in his sales. The divisional round of the NFL playoffs begins this weekend in Denver when the Broncos host the Baltimore Ravens at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Locally, the New England Patriots host the Houston Texans Sunday at Gillette Stadium with kick-off at 4:30 p.m. Patriots fans hoping for another AFC Championship game in Foxborough will be tuning in Saturday to cheer on the Ravens against Peyton Manning and the Broncos while fans wanting to see a Brady-Manning showdown with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line will be favoring the Broncos Saturday.
