Wrentham 9/11 Memorial Unveiled in Front of Town Hall

Troy Neubrecker's project to create a 9/11 Memorial came to fruition as the memorial was unveiled at Town Hall. Check out the video of the unveiling inside the article.

On September 11, 2001, Troy Neubrecker was only four years old. What he remembers of that day is very little as for someone that young to understand what happened that day is near impossible. “I remember my parents telling me, that’s about it,” Neubrecker said. 11 years later and with a much greater appreciation of the tragedy that comes with growing up and maturity, the young 15 year old from Wrentham stood in front of Town Hall to unveil the 9/11 Memorial that he fundraised over $22,000 for. It has been an interesting year for Neubecker, who took on the task of funding a creating the 9/11 Memorial after Wrentham Selectman Joe Botaish mentioned the idea to him months earlier. Wrentham's 9/11 Memorial to be Revealed Tonight

Eagle Scout Troop 131 invites the public to join them in front of Town Hall for a special meeting to reveal the monument

When Troy Neubecker takes the sheet off the 9/11 Memorial in front of Town Hall tonight, it will be the end of months of hard work for the young Xaverian sophomore. At 6:30 p.m. tonight, Neubecker and the rest of Eagle Scout Troop 131 will hold a special meeting to mark the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy and unveil the new memorial. Among those questioning this was Selectman Chairman Joe Botaish, who suggested the idea of a memorial to Neubecker. "Someone was …

Wrentham 15 Year Old Fundraising for 9/11 Memorial

15 year old Troy Neubecker has raised $16,000 of the $20,000 needed for a 9/11 Memorial to be placed in front of Town Hall.

Last September, while nearby towns like Foxborough unveiled their 9/11 memorial on the weekend of the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attack, the town of Wrentham was quieter in its remembrance for the fallen victims of the tragedy. If 15-year-old Xaverian High School freshman and Wrentham resident Troy Neubecker gets his way, there will be a new memorial dedicated to the victims of 9/11 at Town Hall to be revealed on the 11th anniversary of the tragedy. The idea for the memorial initially came from Wrentham Selectmen Chairman Joseph F. Botaish who suggested the idea to Neubecker. "Someone was saying how we don’t have anything to remember 9/11 so he [Botaish] was kinda annoyed about that,” Neubecker said. With help from friends, family, …
