Wrentham's Jonasson Earns Soccer Player of the Week Honors

Erica Jonasson of Wrentham was named as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference's player of the week for women's soccer for her play at Bridgewater State University.

Bridgewater State University junior forward Erica Jonasson of Wrentham was selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women’s Soccer Player of the Week.

Jonasson, who played at Tri-County Regional,  finished with three goals and an assist for seven points in three games for the Bears last week which included a 10-0 MASCAC win over Fitchburg State.  The Wrentham, Massachusetts native recorded her first career hat trick in the victory over the Falcons and added an assist in a 3-2 non-conference setback to UMass Boston.

Jonasson, who transferred to Bridgewater State from UMass Dartmouth, has three goals and two assists for eight points in six games with the Bears this season.  She is currently tied for seventh in the MASCAC in scoring, tied for eighth in goals and tied for sixth in assists.

In 44 games over three seasons of collegiate soccer, Jonasson has amassed 22 goals and five assists for 49 points.  She tallied 19 goals and three assists at UMass Dartmouth in 2010 and 2011, and also garnered All-Little East Conference Second Team honors as a sophomore.

Jonasson is the women’s soccer team’s first conference Player of the Week since Ashley Hersey, Oct. 26, 2009.
