The final day of the fourth annual Curry Cricket Tournament will be held at the Wrentham Developmental Center.

The Boston Gymkhana Sports Cricket Club will hold the fourth and final day of its at the Wrentham Developmental Center on Sunday.

This is the fourth year the event — which is open to the public — has been held.

Bikram Singh, a member of the cricket club, said it first started in 1997.

"It started in Norwood, and at the time it was called the Norwood Cricket Club," he said. "Over the years it grew, and we started to get members from all over — New Hampshire, Connecticut, Maine."

The club's name, he said, was changed to better reflect its regional nature. It was still in need of a home venue, however, so they entered into discussions with the Wrentham Developmental Center. The club began using the center as its home in 2001.

Though the sport isn't traditionally followed by Americans, Singh noted that it has a long history in the country.

"Two weeks ago, we played a game in Needham for the town's 300th anniversary on a field called ',' named after the sport," he said. "Immigrants from England, Scotland and Ireland used to play cricket there."

"George Washington used to play cricket," he added. "The roots are there, they just need to be nurtured."

Singh said the sport is beginning to get some local attention.

"We were part of WEST's [the Wrentham Elementary School Trust's] Fun Day," he said. "People participated in a game there."

According to Singh, Sunday's event will consist of three games, starting at 9am. The finals, he said, will take place around 12:30pm.

"State Senator Richard Ross will be there to give away the award," he said.

The day will also feature authentic Indian food, and information about the sport itself.
