Wrentham Cal Ripken Team Beats Falmouth, 12-7

Team will play Revere tonight.

Wrentham used a six-run second and a five-run fifth inning to beat a very good Falmouth team Tuesday night 12-7 in the Massachusetts Cal Ripken 11 year old State Championship Tournament. 

Falmouth (1-1) jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, stringing together four consecutive one-out hits in the first inning.  

Wrentham (2-0) got a run in the first, and exploded for six runs in the pivotal second inning when Will Weir singled in two runs and Colin Cooke and Riley Lucas followed with RBI singles to take a 7-3 lead.

Falmouth immediately responded with a three-run third inning to draw within 7-6 before Will Weir stopped a fourth-inning rally cold, striking out two batters with runners at second and third. 

Wrentham put the game away in the fifth, when Ben Furfari (2-3, 3 RS) stroked an RBI double over the head of the leftfielder and Will Weir (2-4, 5 RBI) hit a three-run opposite field home run.

Pat Limerick, Will Weir and Ben Furfari each pitched two innings for Wrentham. 

Wrentham next plays Wednesday night against Revere at 7:30pm. A Wrentham win will clinch the number one spot in the American division of the tournament and assure Wrentham a spot in the semi-final game on Friday night.
