Jake Layman, Maryland lose to North Carolina

The University of Maryland men's basketball team dropped a decision to North Carolina Wednesday night.

 

Former King Philip standout Jake Layman was on ESPN Wednesday night as the University of Maryland men's basketball team lost to the University of North Carolina. 79-63, at home.

Layman came out the bench, scoring five points and grabbing three rebounds.

Despite a snow storm, there was a sellout crowd on hand for Seniors' Night.

The 6-8  freshman from Wrentham is playing guard/forward and is featured on the team's website, dunking the basketball. He was averaging 5.4 points per game and has 88 rebounds and 156 points going into tonight's game.

Maryland is 20-10 on the season and will be at Virgina Sunday night before playing in the ACC Tournament next week in Greensboro, N.C.

ESPN has a projection of Maryland being one of the teams out of the postseason, while Sports Illustrated also have them missing the tourney.
