Spoiler Alert: Did Gracie Gold Medal in Ladies Figure Skating?

Massachusetts native Gracie Gold skated her free program Thursday for a chance at an Olympic medal at the Sochi games.

Gold, 18, who was born in Newton and learned to skate in her childhood hometown of Easton, went into her long program in fourth place after Wednesday's short program at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. Her free skate today received a score of 136.90 with an overall score of 205.53 putting her in fourth place. Gold’s free skate score was a personal best.

The gold medal went to Russian skater Adelina Sotnikova with an overall score of 224.59.

Other top finishers are: Defending Olympic champion Kim Yu-na of South Korea in second place and Italy's Carolina Kostner in third. You can view scores for all skaters on the Olympics website.

Russian phenom Yulia Lipnitskaya, only 15 years old, came in fifth, followed by Mao Asada of Japan and U.S. team member Ashley Wagner.

Gold is the reigning U.S. National Figure Skating Champion.

As Gracie Gold's #1 fan, I was hugely disappointed that she didn't medal. It was a great effort regardless and I'm proud she represented our country & state so well.

I watched her skate. She was fantastic. I consider her a winner and we all should be proud of her.
