Sharon High football team knocks off top-rated Stoughton in Hockomock League Davenport Division.

The Sharon High football team came out in top in a Hockomock League Davenport Division game, beating rival Stoughton, 16-14, Saturday afternoon in Sharon as part of the Homecoming Day Celebration.

Both teams were undefeated in Davenport play going into the game and Stoughton was unbeaten overall.

With a 11 seconds left in the game, Sharon's Sean Asnes ran for a nine-yard touchdown for the winning score. After forcing Stoughton to punt, the Eagles got the ball back at their own 21-yard line with 3:50 left in the game.

Asnes was able to come up with key third down runs to keep the drive alive.

Stoughton took a 14-10 lead in the fourth quarter, but the Black Knight couldn't hold off the Eagles.

In the third quarter, Asnes scored on a fourth down and goal for the Stoughton 1-yard line to cut the margin to 14-10.

Before the first half ended, the Eagles got on the scoreboard with 25-yard field goal from Eric Lesser.

Aaron Mack scored for Stoughton on a four-yard run with 3:07 left in the half. Frankie Morris added the two-point conversion for a 14-0 lead.

Morris gave Stoughton a 6-0 lead in the first quarter with an 11-yard run.

Sharon and Stoughton are both 6-1 overall. The Eagles' only loss was to King Philip last week.

Next week, Sharon will be at Randolph for a 7 p.m. game Friday night. The Eagles have two Davenport Division games left Nov. 10 Foxborough at 1 p.m. and at Oliver Ames, Thanksgiving morning.

Stoughton now needs someone to knock off Sharon to keep on pace for the Davenport title. The Black Knights will be traveling to Oliver Ames Friday night for 7 p.m. and end their league season at home against Canton Thanksgiving morning.
