Palioca Named NEWMAC Baseball Pitcher of The Week

Wheaton College senior Alec Palioca of Wrentham, a former King Philip Regional student, has been named the New England Women's and Men’s Athletic Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week.

In his only start of the week, Palioca tossed a complete game shutout against Babson College yielding just two hits and zero walks alongside five strikeouts. Palioca also faced just one batter over the minimum in the 1-0 win for the Lyons.

Palioca is currently 3-2 on the season with a 1.46 earned run average (ERA) on 37 innings pitched, a team-high 34 strikeouts and a .195 batting average against (26-for-133). In the NEWMAC, Palioca ranks first in shutouts and innings pitched and second in wins and strikeouts.

Wheaton (18-6-1, 7-2 NEWMAC) returns to action Tuesday, April 8 against Coast Guard Academy for a NEWMAC matchup at 3:30 p.m.The Lyons are currently on a 10-game winning streak.
