Local Athletes Make Mark in College

Local athletes are making an impact on their college athletic teams.

Norfolk's Patrick Myers is a sophomore on the University of North Carolina men's swim team, doing the backstroke and the individual medley.

He swam for King Philip High, winning the state championships all three years in both the 100 butterfly and the 100 backstroke and broke the Massachusetts state record in the 100 back as a senior by going 49.60. Myers also competed for the Bluefish Swim Club.

It didn't take long for Wrentham's Jake Cintolo to make an impact for the Suffolk University baseball team this year. In the first game of the season, Cintolo went 3 for 5 as Suffolk posted an 8-2 win over Washington College. Mac Jacobson, a junior outfielder for King Phillip and a Norfolk native, started things off when he got hit by a pitch.

Andrew Sutton is a senior defender for the Keene State men's lacrosse team, who are off to a 4-0 start. He has appeared in three games thus far. The Owls will next be in action at Roger Williams March 23.

Gen O'Malley is a sophomore distance runner at Assumption College.
