Layman's Freshman Year at Maryland Ends in N.I.T. Semifinals

The University of Maryland men's basketball team ended their season with a loss to Iowa in the N.I.T. semifinals Tuesday night.

 

Wrentham's Jake Layman scored four points and grabbed seven rebounds as the University of Maryland men's basketball team lost to Iowa, 71-60, in Tuesday's N.I.T. semifinals at Madision Square Garden.

Maryland finished the season with a 25-13 record, while Iowa moves on to play Baylor in the finals after the Bears beat BYU, 76-70.

Layman, who split time as a starter and reserve this year, went into the semifinals, averaging 5.5 points per game and 3.2 rebounds per game. He started 17 out of 38 games with 24 block shots and 21 steals.
