King Philip Wrestling and Track Teams Do Themselves Proud

Warriors send two wrestlers and two track stars to the MIAA All State Tournament in their respective sports.

While the boys basketball team is looking to make history as they progress through the Division 2 South boys basketball tournament, King Philip has had some important wins on the wrestling mat and on the track.

In the 112-pound weight class, KP’s David Logan captured the Division 2 Championship with a pin of North Attleboro’s Shane LeBlanc at 5:47 of the match. To get there, Logan pinned Needham’s Zach Goldman in the first round, defeated Winchester’s Quinn Gregory 7-0 in the second round and beat Natick’s Peter Gutierrez 10-0 in his third bout. At the All States, Logan took home fourth place.

Austin Brais, competing in the 140-pound weight class, finished as the runner-up losing to North Andover’s Jason Rickett 4-3. To get to the championship bout, Brais took out Arlington’s Hunter Fogerty 10-0, Duxbury’s Pat Donovan 5-1 and Winchester’s Ryan MacDonald.
