King Philip's Owen Gosner was fourth in the Tommy Cochary Massachusetts Boys' High School Mile Run in Falmouth Saturday night, while classmate Abby Seaberg was fifth in the girls' race.
Charlton's Stella Worters was the first place finisher in a new record time of 5:14.01, beating the mark of Belchertown's Madison Granger in 2011 of 5:22.2.
In fact, the top four runners in the race beat the previous race. Carlise's Megan Ratcliffe was second in 5:15.71, followed by Danvers' Catalina Dominick in third at 5:17.64. Acton's Christine Davis was fourth in 5:20.72, followed by Seaberg in fifth in 5:26.38, Whitinsville's Julie Richer, sixth in 5:28.32, Foxborough's Liz Holmes, seventh, 5:30.25, Springfield's Ashley Monahan, eighth, in 5:36.55.
Seaberg and Holmes are setting in a year long of races in the Hockomock League, which should prove interesting.
The record also fell in the boys' race as Weston's Garrett O'Toole ran a winning time of 4:25.46, beating the mark of 4:26.39 set by Wachusett Regional's Alex Jagelsky in 2011.
