For a time, it looked as if the Canton Bulldogs would pose a serious threat to the King Philip Warriors on senior night Friday.
On the first drive of the game, Canton quarterback Anthony Bires broke a 51-yard run on a keeper. The run would set up a six-yard Canton touchdown, putting the Bulldogs up 6-0.
KP, though, responded with a methodical drive, culminating in an 18-yard Charles Ruffin touchdown.

After stopping Canton's second drive, the Warriors would pull ahead on a 17-yard pass from quarterback John Dillon to receiver Sam McDonald. KP would be stopped on a two-point conversion attempt, and the Warriors led 12-6.
Ruffin would score three more times in the game, and KP linebacker Nate Malone would return a Canton fumble 42 yards for the touchdown. The Warriors extended their lead to 37-6 at the end of the third quarter.

The Bulldogs would score with 20 seconds left in the fourth quarter by virtue of a 15-yard scamper by running back Matt Bagley, but the game was out of reach at that point.
KP would take the game, 37-13.
