Get Active America Open House

Anytime Fitness Plainville Opens Doors Free to Public for the 9th Annual Get Active America! Program in Support of the President’s Challenge and Let’s Move! Initiative

Plainville – 04/24/12 – For this year’s 9th Annual Get Active America! program, Anytime Fitness is opening its doors for free for several days and encouraging people in the Plainville community to work towards leading a healthier, more active life.

Anytime Fitness is joining with the International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association (IHRSA)—in support of Let’s Move!—to help America become physically active and improve their diet. As part of Get Active America! Anytime Fitness will encourage its community to pursue the President’s Active Lifestyle Award (PALA+) by being active and making more healthful food choices for 5 days a week for at least 6 out of 8 weeks. Last year, more than 60,000 Anytime Fitness members met the requirements and earned PALA certificates.

During Get Active America! week, current Anytime Fitness members will be invited to bring a friend for free from May 7-10 (10am – 7pm), and the club will open its doors to the community, free of charge, from May 11-13 (10am – 4pm). On Saturday May 12th @10am Anytime Fitness will hold a FREE beginner level boot camp program where people in the Plainville community will be able to learn basic exercising.

“Anytime Fitness realizes how difficult it is to make healthy lifestyle changes and how important it is to have the support of those around you,” says owner Sushil Shah. “We’re here to offer inspiration and support to those in our community who want to improve their health and live more physically active lives. At Anytime Fitness, we have the resources and professionals on staff to help them succeed.”

“At a time when our communities are staggering from the effects of inactivity and related chronic disease, obesity and depression, health clubs are leading Americans to healthier, happier and more fulfilling lives,” says Joe Moore, IHRSA’s president and CEO. “Health clubs are vital to solving America’s health woes. They are compassionate, prevention-based community partners to which Americans struggling to make smart lifestyle changes can turn. We hope many Americans, both young and old, will take advantage of Get Active America! this May and find the support they need.”
