Wrentham Elementary Schools To Put Dry Sprinkler Project To Bid

Bid process to begin this week.

The Wrentham Elementary Schools will be putting a dry sprinkler project for the Delaney School out to bid this week.

Superintendent Jeffrey Marsden said at Thursday's school committee meeting that the capital project had been approved at the November town meeting.

"It's on a tight timeline," he said. "We did put in the specifications that work would have to be done in July and August."

According to Marsden, any bidder is welcome.

"We look at just the numbers first, but then we look through everything else," he said.

Marsden said the bids are examined to ensure that they are properly submitted, and that the company is capable of performing the work.

The town voted to appropriate $44,500 to the project in the November Town Meeting. According to the Finance Committee recommendations for that meeting, the current system had experienced three leaks in the past five years, each of which causing thousands of dollars worth of damage.

The recommendations said a subsequent investigation revealed deficiencies in the system that could lead to additional leaks.
