Wrentham Elementary Schools Move Forward With Sprinkler Project

Bids will be opened today, work hoped to take place over summer.

The Wrentham Elementary School Committee, at its meeting Tuesday night, got an update on the Delaney School sprinkler project, set to take place over the summer.

Superintendent Jeffrey Marsden told the committee that the bid openings would take place the next day.

"We have three companies interested at this point," he said. "It's our intention to have the work done over July and August and, if needed, finish over the December break."

The town voted to appropriate $44,500 to the project in the November Town Meeting. According to the Finance Committee recommendations for that meeting, the current system had experienced three leaks in the past five years, each of which causing thousands of dollars worth of damage.

"We had a group come out, and they found that, when it was built, an incorrect thickness of pipe was used," Marsden said. "We've been trying to get restitution, but the company that built it is no longer in business."
