Wrentham Elementary School Committee Hears Building Maintenance Update

Maintenance work was done over the summer at the Wrentham Elementary Schools.

The Wrentham Elementary School Committee got an update at their meeting Tuesday on work performed at the schools over the summer.

District Superintendent Jeffrey Marsden said there had been a great deal accomplished in the summer months.

"The Delaney School got a new dry sprinkler system, so that's done," he said.

Another project, he said, involved replacing an elevator door in the Delaney School.

"The elevator has had moisture issues," he said. "We have to have the elevator by law — it would never have passed inspection [without the replacement]."

Marsden said the town Department of Public Works recently paved the bus circle for the schools.

"They got the blacktop for us," he said. "We've had a few trips and spills there over the last couple of years."

Other projects included replacing the front doors and water main of the Roderick School.

According to Marsden, the district will be looking at the slate roof of the Vogel School.

"I've gotten several opinions — one person said it was not reparable, the other said it was definitely reparable," he said. "I want to get a slate expert out there."

Marsden said the district may want to consider a tin roof, which he said would maintain the character of the building but be less expensive.
