Wrentham Elementary Committee Reviews Superintendent

Committee talks about superintendent performance review.

The Wrentham Elementary School Committee discussed its review of district Superintendent Jeffrey Marsden at its meeting Tuesday night.

Edward Goddard, the chairman of the school committee, said the overall feedback was quite positive.

"We're very pleased with your work," he said. "There were comments about your accumen with the budget and your ability to work with the staff — you got high marks on all that stuff."

Goddard said the board had extended Marsden's contract as a result of his good work.

"We're looking forward to continuing to work with you," he said.

He said the committee would be examining areas for improvement at its next meeting.

The committee also talked about its self-review, which Goddard said was generally good.

"There's a level of congeniality on the committee, people share their opinions and everyone comes prepared," he said. "As with all elected boards, there are things we can improve."

Goddard pointed to the lack of a good orientation program for new board members.

Board member Eric Greenberg agreed that this was an issue.

"The biggest thing I had problems with is acronyms, and some still get me today," he said. "If we wrote down every term we said in a meeting, and did an explanation for them, that'd be helpful."
