National Accreditation Given to Tri-County Regional High School

Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical High School's Postsecondary Programs recently received national accreditation by the Commission of the Council of Occupational Education (COE), according to Marc Koczwara, the continuing education director.

The school’s adult nursing (practical nursing and certified nursing assistant) and Cosmetology (cosmetology, aesthetics and manicuring) programs received accreditation status following an extensive self-study by Tri-County and an intensive review by a visiting team of professional educators representing the commission’s member institutions from other states.

Based in Atlanta, GA, COE accredits post-secondary occupational institutions that offer certificate, diploma, or applied associate degree programs. These institutions include public technical colleges, private career colleges, federal institutions including the Army, Navy and Department of Defense institutions and Job Corps centers. The mission of the Council is to ensure quality and integrity in career and technical education. Throughout its 40-year history, the Council has been recognized by the U.S Secretary of Education as a reliable authority on the quality of education offered by the institutions it has accredited.

The award of accreditation status is based on an evaluation to demonstrate that the institution meets not only the standards of quality of the commission, but also the needs of students, the community and employers.

“We are excited about this new accreditation," said Koczwara. "Everyone here put a lot of hard work into the self-study and we are all looking forward to working with COE.  Like Tri-County, COE is committed to continuous improvement, which will only help us maintain and improve the quality of our programs. In addition to offering quality, affordable programs to members of the communities we serve, this accreditation makes it possible for us to continue to offer fainancial id to our students.”
