KP Wastewater Project Expected to Finish Under Budget

Status of project discussed at school committee meeting Monday night.

The King Philip School Committee heard about the progress of the wastewater treatment project at their meeting Monday night.

District Business Manager Paul Schaefer said the project is moving forward.

"This project was budgeted for $485,000," he said. "We've spent $364,000 so far."

Schaefer said, although the project is running later than projected, he expected it to finish up under budget.

The wastewater treatment issue has been going on for a number of months, as the high school's current system had drawn odor complaints from neighboring residents.

School officials said the problems were caused by a lack of flow through the system.
