KP Basketball Coach McInnis is MIAA Coach of Year

Coach Sean McInnis named MIAA's Basketball Coach of the Year.

King Philip Basketball Coach Sean McInnis has been named the high school basketball coach of the year by the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association.

McInnis was honored at this week's King Philip School Committee meeting.

Committee member Patrick Francomano praised the work done by the coach.

"It's gone beyond just working with the boys — he's reached out to the King Philip community," he said. "The team had such a following. There were kids from every town, and every age group, at the games because of his outreach to the community."

The KP basketball team performed exceptionally well this season, defeating Franklin, Norwood and Westwood on the way to the MIAA tournament.

The team took full advantage of their first berth in the tournament in ten years, taking down Walpole, Wellesley and Falmouth on its way to the finals. Despite leading for two and a half quarters in the finals against Hopkinton, the boys couldn't hold on, eventually losing the game in overtime.
