King Philip Wrapping Up Wastewater Project

KP School Committee heard update on project.

The King Philip School District is wrapping up work on the high school wastewater treatment system.

Neighbors had complained about odors from the high school's wastewater treatment plant. It was determined that a lack of flow created the odor problem.

District business manager Paul Schaefer gave an update on the project at Monday's King Philip School Committee.

"The final test is the clear water testing phase," he said. "If the system works as it's supposed to, we'll be getting a permit."

Schaefer said the system would be tested by the town Board of Health this week.

"My understanding is [the test] is instantaneous," he said. "It works or it doesn't. If it works, we're on our way. If not, we have more work to do."
