Wrentham, Town Employees Agree to Cost-Saving Health Plan Deal

The town of Wrentham has reached an agreement with its employees to health care plan changes that will save money, it was announced Thursday.

In a memo sent by Town Administrator William Ketcham, the town announced that the it would be moving from legacy plans to rate saver or benchmark plans,a  change expected to save the town 22 percent in health care costs.

"The Town is sharing half its savings with employees in a one-time payment, and estimates that it will save $240,000 on health care costs with that incentive," the memo reads.

Wrentham will also offer a payment to those employees who have plans outside of the town's group insurance.

The town's health care options have been discussed at local government meetings for some time, as the town is looking for cost savings to prevent service cuts.
