Wrentham to Consider Effects of Possible Foxborough Casino

Local government will look at ways a casino in Foxborough would affect the town.

Talks about a possible casino in nearby Foxborough have not escaped the notice of the Wrentham town government.

At Tuesday night's Board of Selectmen meeting, Town Administrator William Ketcham said he had begun looking at the ways a casino in that town would affect Wrentham.

Ketcham said he had solicited the views of various department heads — such as those of the Department of Public Works and public safety departments — about the impact such a project would have.

The selectmen suggested Ketcham report his findings at the board's first January meeting, noting that their next meeting (to be held Dec. 13) would be too soon to get an accurate prediction of the changes.

Foxborough made news last week when it was announced that Las Vegas developer Stephen Wynn would be meeting with New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft about a possible casino in the town.

The move led to a rally against a casino on the Foxborough town common. Foxborough has tentatively scheduled a public hearing for Dec. 20 to discuss the matter.
