Wrentham Sees Sizable Drop in November Unemployment Rate

Town's unemployment numbers drop.

Wrentham's unemployment rate fell in the month of November, according to numbers released today by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development.

The rate in the town declined from 5.8 percent in October to 5 percent last month. The rate had been 6.8 percent in November 2010.

The numbers reflect a statewide trend, as the commonwealth saw its rate fall from 7.3 percent to 7 percent for the month.

The unemployment rates for area towns follow:

  • Attleboro's November unemployment rate decreased from 9.2 percent in October to 8.8 percent. November 2010's rate was 9.5 percent.
  • Dover's unemployment fell substantially, from 4 percent to 2.9 percent. Last November's rate was 4.4 percent.
  • Easton saw its unemployment rate drop a bit, from 5.2 percent in October to 5 percent last month. Last year's rate was 7.6 percent.
  • Foxborough's unemployment rate decreased by .7 percent, from 6.4 percent to 5.7 percent. Both numbers are below last November's 6.6 percent rate.
  • Mansfield's rate fell from 6 percent in October to 5.3 percent last month. The rate in November 2010 was 7.2 percent.
  • Medfield saw its rate decline from 4.8 percent to 4.3 percent, while last year's rate was 6 percent.
  • Norfolk's unemployment rate was down a bit, from 5.6 percent in October to 5.4 percent in November. November 2010's rate was 7.2 percent.
  • Norton had its unemployment rate drop from 6.7 percent to 6.5 percent, while last November's rate was 8.4 percent.
  • Norwood's November unemployment rate was down slightly, from 5.8 percent to 5.5 pecent. The rate last November was 7.3 percent.
  • Plainville's unemployment rate went up a bit in November, from 7.6 percent to 7.7 percent. Both numbers were below last year's 9.1 percent figure.
  • Sharon's unemployment rate fell from 5.5 percent in October to 4.6 percent last month. Last year's rate was 6 percent.
  • Stoughton had its unemployment rate deline from 6.6 percent to 6.2 percent. Last year's rate was 7.6 percent.
